Curriculum Overview
The faculty of the Wharton School has designed the undergraduate curriculum to accomplish three objectives:
- Combine the study of business with the study of the liberal arts and sciences,
- Give students an international perspective, and
- Improve students’ leadership and communication skills.
For information on specific requirements, please review the appropriate Undergraduate Program Student Handbook for your class at:

Students are encouraged to pursue an education that provides them with both a broad business background and an exposure to arts and sciences.
Although some courses are strictly sequenced—e.g., students must complete calculus before statistics and economics before finance—there is flexibility in completing many requirements. Students are encouraged to work with their advisor on an individual basis to build an academic plan that meets their goals and ensures that degree requirements are met.
Here is a general idea of what students focus on each year.
