What are the dates of the 2009 Leadership in the Business World Program?
Leadership in the Business World 2009 Summer Business Institute begins on June 28, 2009 and ends on July 25, 2009.
How much does LBW Cost?
The tuition, room, and board for LBW is $5,400 as well as an additional $75 non-refundable application fee.
What does the program fee cover?
The program fee covers tuition, housing, meals, activities and weekend trips.
Is there financial aid available for the LBW program?
Financial aid is available on a limited basis.
Why do I receive correspondence from Julian Krinsky Camps and Programs?
Julian Krinsky Camps and Programs (JKCP) is the service provider for several Wharton summer business institutes, including Leadership in the Business World. JKCP provides administrative support for the program. The Wharton School is wholly responsible for admissions. The Wharton School provides all content for the LBW program including faculty members and guest speakers who participate in the program.

Is there a specific form for the teacher recommendation?
There is no specific form for the two required teacher recommendations. We want to hear from the recommender about their knowledge of the student’s abilities and why they believe the student would be a good candidate for the LBW program. Since there is no specific form, the teacher may write their recommendation on school letterhead or the teacher’s official letterhead. All recommendations can be sent to:

May I send a copy of my score reports?
Yes, you may send a copy of your College Board score reports for all standardized tests you have taken.
I have not taken the PSATs or SATs. Can I still apply?
Yes, although we encourage students to submit standardized test scores, students may still apply without them.
Do I have to have my transcript sent directly from the school?
We prefer that you have your high school send a transcript directly to us. Please have your school send your transcript to:

I am experiencing technical difficulties when I try to apply to LBW. Who should I contact?
Please contact Michele Welgoss (JKCP) at 610-265-9401 who can assist you with any technical difficulties you may experience when applying to LBW.
How can I save my application information and come back to it?
Once you have paid the $75 application fee, you can save your application. You will have a username and password and can then save and return to your application.
Can I print out a hard copy of the application?
Unfortunately, a hard copy of the application is not available.
How do I know when you have received my application?
You will receive an email from JKCP once all of your application materials have been received (including your transcript, recommendations and score reports.) If you do not hear from JKCP several weeks after you have submitted your application, please contact them at 610-265-9401. Your complete application will then be reviewed by Wharton’s LBW Admissions Committee.
I know the application deadline is March 14th, 2009. Does that mean I need to apply by March 14th or does my application need to be complete by then?
In order to be considered for admission to LBW, your entire application (application, transcript, score reports and recommendations) must be received by March 14th. Any submitted materials postmarked after March 14th with NOT be accepted. Any applicants that wish to submit an SAT score after the March 14th deadline must notify leadership@wharton.upenn.edu in advance of the application deadline.
When will I hear whether or not I have been accepted to LBW?
Admissions decisions will be released beginning on April 24th, 2009.

What do students do in the evenings and on the weekends during LBW?
Students participate in planned weekend and evening activities as part of the LBW program. LBW students take weekend trips to NYC, Washington D.C., theme parks, as well as “the Jersey shore.” In addition, students participate in evening dinners in downtown Philadelphia, as well as dances and myriad social activities during the month.
Do I get any free time during the LBW Program?
Yes. While the week is filled with classes and students take weekend trips on Saturdays, nightly social activities are optional and students may use time between and after classes as free time.
As part of the LBW Program, do I live on campus?
Yes. All students will live together in the Lower Quad--- where most students live their freshman year at Penn.
If I have a friend who will also be participating in LBW Program, can I request him/her as a roommate?
Yes. You may request a roommate; however, our goal is to have students to develop new relationships and become part of a broader learning community.
Does participating in LBW guarantee acceptance to the University of Pennsylvania?
Participation in the LBW program does not guarantee admission to the University of Pennsylvania.
