Sopomore Career Exploration Series
Sponsored by the Wharton Undergraduate Division, the Sophomore Career Exploration Series provides sophomores with opportunities to explore different career paths, better understand their field of interest, and network with professionals. Each semester the program runs trips to New York and Washington DC for business site visits. Participants tour company facilities, meet with executives, attend Q&A panels, and more. The series also includes career-planning workshops and other networking sessions throughout the school year.
Previous Trips:
NBA & Condé Nast (NYC), February 2008
New York Stock Exchange & Deutsche Bank (NYC), October 2008
Michael Kors & NBC Studio Tour (NYC), November 2008
Madison Square Garden & PricewaterhouseCoopers (NYC), February 2009
U.S. Department of State (Washington, DC), February 2009
Student Feedback:
“I didn’t have a lot of experience with networking going into the lunch with Deutsche Bank. The lunch was a great chance to ask multiple people questions about the field in a very conversational and relaxed atmosphere.” – Colin Lee, Wharton ‘11
“Walking on the floor of the Stock Exchange was an unbelievable experience. We were on ground level during one of the most exciting and anxious times for Wall Street.” – Amol Amin, Wharton ‘11
“The Michael Kors/NBC trip gave me the opportunity to experience business in the fashion and entertainment industry. I will be more confident with whatever career decision I make because I will have considered a wider range of options.” – Cindy Jia, Wharton ‘11
“Anna [VP of Accessories, Michael Kors] helped me realize how useful a business degree can be in any industry. Since she worked at IBM after business school, she told us a lot about the differences between a traditional and non-traditional business career.” – Robert Desocio, Wharton ‘11
