Cohorts

The cohort system was created in 2006 to enhance the Wharton undergraduate community.  Initially starting as an extension of the team building and collaborative opportunity that begins with MGMT 100, the cohort system has extended beyond the freshmen year to encompass all four years of the Wharton Life experience.

Cohort Leadership Opportunities:

Freshmen Representatives: Two freshmen representatives are selected in the fall semester from each freshmen cohort.  The representatives serve as liaisons between the cohort members and the cohort directors.  Along with the cohort directors, the freshmen representatives plan social activities for the cohort.  The position lasts for the duration of the freshman year.

Cohort President: Each cohort elects a president starting in the spring of the freshmen year and continuing to the spring of the junior year.  Elections for cohort president are held in the late spring and last one full year.  The president along with the respective cohort council will put together various social and co-curricular activities for the cohort as well as work with other cohorts.  The cohort presidents meet once a month with the associate director and director of student life.

Cohort Mentor (formerly Cohort Buddy): An upperclassman who serves as a peer mentor to a freshman in the same cohort.

Cohort Director (formerly Cohort Mentor): A sophomore leader who plans activities for each cohort throughout the freshman year and also serves as a resource and peer mentor to the freshmen.  Cohort directors are selected through a rigorous application and interview process.  This position is held for one year.

Cohort Executive Board: The executive committee that oversees the cohort program comprised of former cohort directors.  The cohort executive board works closely with the associate director and director of student life to continually assess and enhance the cohort system.
